Overview
The New Generation Warfare Centre works in many countries conducting simulations, war-games, TTXs, analyses, workshops, senior dialogues, and seminars in partnership with military training and educational institutions; chairing and participating in numerous military conferences and panels; and authoring articles and books. These efforts are all focused on the evolving methods and the application of New Generation Warfare: non-kinetic, kinetic, and nuclear as practiced primarily by Russia, but also by China, Iran and North Korea. Goals include assisting frontline and second echelon liberal democracies to understand the threat and make intelligent acquisition decisions for self-defense (as in NATO’s Article 3), and in support of bilateral and multilateral military coalitions, as well as contributions to NATO collective defense, Article 5. Much of our work is documented in two volumes, the Eastern Front in World War III Volumes 1 and 2 which are regularly updated with V1 3rd Edition and V2 2nd Edition to be released this year.
New Generation Warfare Center Focus Areas:
1) Study and Research of New Generation Warfare Techniques.
In this area the New Generation Warfare Center teams have three unique strengths, first a superior understanding of Russian general staff planning, second an exceptionally detailed understanding of terrain including several world-class military geographers on the team, and third, deep experience in applying this knowledge in the conduct of wargaming primarily at the operational to strategic levels. This knowledge has been captured in our books The Eastern Front in World War III, Volume 1 and 2 which are constantly updated with new information. The Centre maintains a long-term partnership with a wide range of retired field grade and flag/general officers to provide consultations and advice in all our work.
2) Dialogues, Conference and Seminars.
The European American Security Dialogue is a premier event modeled on a process created during the cold war by Andy Marshall, who created the US Defense Department Office of Net Assessment. The Dialogue, typically co-hosted with a Country’s leadership but including regional participation, involves approximately 30 senior participants that might include senior staff to Ministers/Ambassadors, COLs to Chiefs of Defense, fully immersed for 2-3 days to engage on challenging problems. As the events are conducted under Chatham House rules without press involvement, participants can fully engage in idea development free of political limitations and emerge from the Dialogues with increased knowledge and more creative adaptive solutions to exceptionally challenging or previously insurmountable problems. Further we conduct seminars with Military Academies and Universities as well as with Think Tanks and Industry Conferences in many different countries.
3) Experiential Learning: Wargame, Simulations and Analysis.
Since 2016 our wargaming efforts have been applied to assist many countries along the Eastern front with Russia; over 40 major games have been conducted with a geographic focus from Svalbard in the Arctic to Greece in the Eastern Mediterranean. Our games are often conducted with military headquarters and operational staff – typically with a focus on operational-tactical and operation-strategic levels for at the senior level or for military educational institutions. In some cases, full spectrum deterrence simulations are conducting which involve all elements of a country’s national power to address the non-kinetic (hybrid/information/cyberwar/crisis management, terrorism, refugees, etc.) elements along with associated host-nation and logistics support. This can be conducted in a parallel with kinetic warfighting. Recent successes include showing Poland the value of procuring new weapons systems such as the Apache, convincing the Lithuanian leadership to increase their overall military capability in a variety of ways which resulted in a defense budget increase of $14 Billion USD over the next five years, and comprehensively helping Romania explore their defense requirements.
The NGW Centre team is rapidly deployable into most any situation in which their wargaming and analytic expertise is needed to evaluate challenges primarily from the operational to strategic level to address training, requirements and acquisition challenges. We operate globally as a virtual organization to maximize speed and minimize overhead costs making our efforts the quality and affordable choice to assess challenging problems.
